The O.J. Simpson Case
Within the O.J. Simpson case, many different items of evidence were analysed however a lot of the evidence that was taken from the crime scene was biological evidence, or physical evidence with biological evidence upon it.
Blood drops were found at the crime scene on the back gate, this blood was analysed and matched O.J. Simpsons DNA, and as O.J. Simpson had a cut on his finger, this concluded that Simpson was in fact at the crime scene as his finger dripped with blood after wounding himself with the knife he used to kill ex wife Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. However as the cut was only very small, this cut would not have been able to bleed as much as the drops of blood at the crime scene suggest. Also due to the amount of evidence that was poorly collected from the crime scene, the defence team raised that due to the sloppy work from officers and SOCO's at the crime scene, this evidence was said to be unreliable.
Another piece of evidence that was found at the scene was bloody shoe prints. These shoe prints were a size 12 Bruno Magli shoe, as O.J. Simpson was a size 12 too and this particular make of shoe was extremely rare the prosecution team stated that this piece of evidence proven that Simpson was at the crime scene proving evidence that O.J. Simpson had bought the shoes while shopping in Bloomingale's in New York. However the defence team argued that many people had bought those particular shoes and that the prosecution team had no valid evidence to prove that Simpson had bought those particular shoes. Also there was other shoe prints at the crime scene which did not match the Bruno Magli shoe.
Another piece of evidence which was seized at the crime scene and analysed was hairs and fibres. Dark blue cotton fibres were collected off the body of Ronald Goldman which were similar to the carpet fibres within Simpsons Ford Bronco. Hair fibres which were found within a dark knitted cap where also similar to Simpsons however after analysing Simpsons hair, his hair sample contained some dandruff where as the hair fibre taken from the crime scene did not. Therefore the hair sample did not match to Simpson.
The most known piece of evidence that was collected from the crime scene was the glove. The glove that was found at the crime scene shown to have hair fibres and blood upon it. After forensic analysis was taken place upon the glove, the blood matched Simpsons, Nicole Browns and Ronald Goldmans. The blonde hair fibre was also very similar to Nicole Browns hair.
One pair of dark coloured socks were also found at the bottom of Simpsons bed, these were taken for analysis and the DNA tests result test that there was blood upon these socks which had the same genetic markers which matched Simpson and Nicole Brown.
Blood was also found within Simpsons Ford Bronco, a small spot of blood was located on the drivers side on the outside handle, more blood was found smeared inside the Bronco upon the door, steering wheel and carpet. The analysis results of this blood shown the genetic markers matches Simpsons, Nicole Browns and Goldman's.
