Ethical Considerations
Ethics are considered in every case to ensure that any potential suspects are treated fairly no matter how horrific there crime might have been. Particularly in the media ethics needs to be considered as the press can easily over exaggerate circumstances if certain procedures aren't in place to make sure that everything is morally right. The media will swarm a high profiled case a lot more than a low profiled case, simply because the case is more interesting to the public. Therefore this than has more of a impact on the community surrounding this media production and the public's views. In the case of a murder, this is most likely to be a high profile case and media production will wanting to be all over it. However this could affect positively to the murder case and this could than conclude to eye witnesses giving statements and releasing critical information to help with the development of the case. Yet the media coverage can also affect negatively on the case as family and friend members of the deceased will constantly be harassed during their time of grief. Although this could possibly be a way of eliminating potential family or friends as suspects. As authorities will investigate there reaction to the press and from this they could possibly tell whether the family or friend suspects are lying when they say they are grieving for a loved one they have lost and could potentially be involved with the murder.
The O.J. Simpson Case
In the murder case of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, Simpson was universally accepted as a American athlete football star. Therefore as he was known very well when this case was leaked to the media and O.J.Simpson was primary suspect for the killings of his ex wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, the press quickly arrived to the crime scene before Scene of Crime Officers arrived. As the crime scene was not corned off by the FAO, Ronald Riske, the media were able to take horrifying photographs of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldmans slashed, dead bodies. This was seen as unethical and insensitive towards their family which only caused more pain and grief. As the pressure was on Riske to keep the bodies hidden he threw a blanket from inside Nicole Simpsons house over the bodies. However without thinking a head of the forensic measure that would need to be taken and evidence collected from the bodies, both bodies were now contaminated and sufficient and reliable evidence from the bodies was destroyed.
